Mostly known as the tourist paradise, Phuket is located approximately one hour and 15 minutes by air from Bangkok (862 km.). In the Andaman Sea, Phuket is fringed with magnificent 16 long white sandy beaches, crystal blue seawater, relaxing tropical atmosphere and fresh seafood. It offers a wide range of superb hotels and resorts ensuring that your holiday is memorable. It also serves as a base for exploration trips to nearby islands such as Phi Phi Islands (just one and a half hour by express ferry from Phuket) with the emerald crystal sea, secluded beaches, wooded cliff mountains and wonderful coral reefs (you may choose to stay in Phi Phi by going to Krabi-Phi Phi section), Similan Islands (most suitable for swimming, diving and fishing), Coral Island or Ko He (one popular destination for one day tour with beautiful coral reefs).
North of Phuket on the western coast of the peninsular is Khao Lak in Phang Nga Province. From Phuket International Airport, Khao Lak can be reach by car in about 1 hour. It is possible and convenient to drive along the paved road, in good condition with the big green trees along the both sides of the road. Lately, Khao Lak is becoming more popular for tourist who prefer quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Not far from Khao Lak area, it will be hilly with fertile National Park with various sorts of unique species of plant including the rare animals. There are also the beautiful natural waterfalls such as Saeng Thong, Lam Roo ,Chong Fa. Therefore, visiting Khaolak in each time, visitors not only get in touch with the peaceful and natural atmosphere but also enjoy various interesting activities, available completely for the visitors from over the world.
Bang Tao Beach: Located 21 km. South of the Phuket International Airport and 20 km. North of Phuket town lies a powder white sandy beach with cool breeze and warm blue sea. Here visitors have plenty of choices to choose 5 stars resorts. These resorts nestle among the trees in an environmentally friendly manner. Golf courses offering splendid view of Andaman Sea are in the nearby area. Water sports are also available.
Patong Beach: Emerged as the bustling focal point of the tourist trade in Phuket, Patong’s beach is a magnificent three kilometer stretch of white sand with plentiful sunshine, clear turquoise sea. It is also well known among the visitor for choices of accommodation, restaurants, shops, aqua-sport facilities and nighttime entertainment.
Kata-Karon: Kata Beach composed of 2 lovely beaches called Kata Yai and Kata Noi separated from each other by a small headland. Kata Beach is a thriving resort suitable for visitors seeking tranquil surrounding with bright sun, white sand and calm sea. Just across a low hill to the north of Kata, a long white beach of Karon stretches magnificently with pines and palms standing tall over the rolling sand dunes providing a unique scene. It is the place for swimming and sunbathing.
Phuket Town: With a population of fewer that 100,000 Phuket Town is an easy-going blend of the historic and the modern. The major reason to stay in the town instead of on the beaches is diversity and access. Those wanting more than a beach holiday will find staying in the town as the most convenient option. Tourist can see old buildings in the Sino-Portuguese style mixed with modern construction forming the unique identity of the town of Phuket.
Other beaches: For visitors who love peace and quiet, Naiyang, Surin, Kamala, Nai Harn, Rawai beaches and Panwa Cape are in for a treat. The beaches offer a balance of relaxation and activities.
