Besides Pattaya, southeast of Bangkok along Thailand’s eastern seaboard are other tourist destinations. Rayong, located 182 kms (2 ½ hours) from Bangkok, is blessed with natural beauty including its 100 kms of coastline, a series of mountains interspersed by flat plains and forested land, rubber, and fruit plantations. Being on a seaside location, the province is famed for its seafood products and it also well known for its tropical fruits such as rambutan, durian, and mangosteen. There are several fine beaches for tourists who seeking rest and relaxation in serene atmosphere.
Rayong: The closest beaches to Rayong are Ban Kon Ao and Hat Mae Ram Phung, stretching to either side of Ban Pae. Although Rayong's best known attractions are undoubtedly the beautiful islands off its serene beaches, some of its best kept secrets are located just a few kilometers away from the heart of the city. Other attractions in Rayong are ranging from fresh seafood and impressive temples. Most of the accommodations are on the long beach, which stretches almost continuously eastwards for 25km (15 miles) from Ban Pae to Mae Pim. Kao Chamao, the inland National Park, offers limestone scenery, jungle, rivers and cascades.
