Visas
As a general rule, any foreigner seeking entry into the Kingdom of Thailand for business, investment, study, medical treatment, mass media, religion, employment and other purposes is required to apply for a visa from a Thai Embassy or Consulate-Gener.
Visitors entering Thailand must be in possession of a valid passport. Transit passengers staying in Thailand not longer than 30 days (29 nights) do not generally require a visa but need an air ticket with a confirmed onward reservation. The exception does not apply to nationals of countries which do not have diplomatic relations with Thailand.
Tourist Visas permit a stay of up to 60 days and can be extended once by 30 days. However,
Tourist Visa can be applied on Arrival at Bangkok International Airport for a staying period not exceeding 15 days.
Custom
Cigarettes, cigars, or smoking tobacco, each or in total, must not exceed 250 grams in weight. Cigarettes must not exceed 200 in quantity. One liter of wine or spirits may be brought in duty free.
Any amount of traveler’s cheques or drafts may be imported, but cash in excess of US$ 10,000 must be declared on arrival. Not more than Baht 50,000 may be exported in cash.
Antiques and Buddha images require export licences ( can be applied at Bangkok Department of Fine Arts).
